Hi Pickleball members

Welcome to February.   We have a big month coming up with some great new initiatives.

Round Robin format - Our next scheduled competition is on 6th March.   Thanks to Kelli and Peter for hosting.   It should be really great, unfortunately 48 players have already booked, but I will let you all know when the next one is.    Thanks as well to Andrea and Graham for organising our first Round Robin earlier this month at Goodlife.

Training is available for Everyone -

Come and Try - Free session for newbies to learn how to play - Mountain Creek every second Saturday.   There is 1 spot left for 12 February and 7 spots left for 26th February.    Remember when people ask “what is Pickleball?????”   Well, please tell them about these sessions.    The players who have come have said they had a great time.  Many are signing up for our other sessions

Drills and Skills - for Advanced Beginners to Intermediate players.   This is on every second Wednesday at Goodlife, it's popular so you really need to book early!  This session is $15 for members and non-members,

Intermediate to Advanced Training - Just started now at Caloundra every second Monday.   Both February sessions are full, so please have a look at our sessions in March and book early.  $10 for members and non-members

Mountain Creek venue changes

Pete, Darren and Jill continue to make improvements to Mountain Creek.  We now have more room at the baseline near the curtain barrier in the middle, due to taping changes.   This is a great initiative and will really help with serving in particular.

Caloundra venue changes

Peter Nichols and Darren Munn have put buffer guards in front of the bleachers on courts 2 and 3.   This means the end of lost balls and carrying bleacher cushions in and out of the storeroom at CIS, to place around the courts.   This will also make light work of hosting duties.

Hosts are always needed -   We are always looking for hosts, so please don't hesitate to volunteer - remember the session is free for you.    Caloundra and Buderim are really easy to host - just check in the players on your phone, and put up the nets.  As you know the players are a fantastic help in taking down the nets.   So please don't hesitate to put your hand up.   It will be much appreciated!!

Volunteer required - do you love Facebook?   do you love Pickleball?  do you want to assist us with growing our FB presence?  If so, just reply to this email or chat to Jen, or message us on Opensports.

Bookings through Opensports are essential   If the session is full, please go to the waitlist.   When a spot becomes available you will be notified via Opensports (notification and email) and you can either accept the invite and pay at that time, or reject the invite. Our hosts no longer accept cahs and also we have worked out our session numbers carefully to ensure that all players have maximum time on the court, so if the session is full on the day and you have not booked, unfortunately, for these reasons you will be unable to play.   But, it is surprising how often you can get a spot on the waitlist:)

T Shirt delays   -   In our last newsletter, I mentioned that we will soon have our Club

T Shirts available to purchase.  There have been a few supply issues, but I will keep you informed on progress.

Member’s input is encouraged.   Remember that this is your club.   If you have any ideas which will make our club more fun for us all, please don't hesitate to talk to Darren or Pete or just use the Opensports chat, and I will respond.   Feedback is always welcome.

Opensports - as always if you have any issues with Opensports at all, please use the chat facility and I will respond ASAP.

Finally, and most importantly, hi to our new members who joined in January - Brian, Angela, Pat, Allen, Brad, Cathy, Beryl, Bill, Jill, Pat, Diane, Bruce and June.     You are most welcome!

That's it for this month – hope to see you soon, Jen
